The new CLAYTEC D22 solar clay board

2024-08-06

The CLAYTEC D22 Solar clay board is manufactured in a 100% CO₂-neutral process and dried using modern solar technology. For dry construction, this board, made of clay and miscanthus fibres, is used to cover wooden and metal substructures of interior walls, ceilings, and roof surfaces. The CLAYTEC D22 Solar is both a dry construction board and a clay plaster in one. With a bulk density of 900 kg/m³, it provides clay mass and is easy to work with. CLAYTEC clay adhesive mortar is suitable for the reinforcement layer of all dry construction boards.
With a reinforcement layer, it is the ideal substrate for YOSIMA clay finish, CLAYTEC fine clay plaster 06, and ClayFix clay paint.

Composition
– Clay, miscanthus fibres, starch (approx. 0.2%), paper (on one reverse side).

Dimensions and weights
– Thickness: approx. 22 mm; length: 1,250 mm; width: 625 mm.
– Area per panel: approx. 0.78 m²
– Weight: approx. 15.5 kg/panel = approx. 19.8 kg/m²

Production
Preparation and moulding process powered by green electricity; drying exclusively via solar energy.

The new CLAYTEC clay thin-bed mortar enables reuse of masonry

2024-01-07

Only reversible mortars enable the complete re-use of masonry. The new CLAYTEC “clay thin-bed mortar” is completely water-soluble and meets all the requirements for non-load-bearing interior walls. Approval for load-bearing wall components is also in progress.

The special feature: CLAYTEC has not only designed this high-performance mortar for use in sustainable construction with clay blocks, but also for bonding bricks, sand-lime bricks, aerated concrete, and other flat blocks, and has patented this application. This makes it an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional, non-water-soluble mortars based on cement and hydraulic lime, whose production emits significantly more CO₂ and which are not reversible.

As a first step, the mortar can be used for non-load-bearing masonry without fire protection requirements. Other areas of application will be possible in the near future. To this end, the latest CLAYTEC product is currently undergoing extensive testing and approval procedures.

Reuse instead of recycling

The clay thin-bed mortar can solve one of the most pressing challenges in the end-of-life recycling of building materials. This is because traditional mortars hinder the reuse of wall-building materials, as they cannot be separated once applied. In contrast, the innovative CLAYTEC clay thin-bed mortar enables efficient dismantling and 1:1 material reuse thanks to its water solubility.

In addition to the water-soluble clay masonry mortar, interior plastering is also essential for the reusability of masonry bricks. With CLAYTEC clay plaster mortars, tested in accordance with DIN 18947, we already offer environmentally friendly solutions in this area as well.

Their use significantly reduces the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of brick walls and other masonry surfaces. CLAYTEC is also continuously developing additional “green” building materials, with the goal of consistently promoting sustainability and innovation in the construction sector.
